What are the advantages of high-pressure die casting (HPDC)?

In contrast to most other casting processes, HPDC does not use lost moulds for production, but instead uses permanent metal moulds that were previously manufactured by our in-house mould making department. The moulds have a long service life and reproduce the cast parts with high precision and a smooth surface - with every cycle. The investment in the moulds is therefore amortised within a short period of time.

From what batch size is die casting economical?

Generally speaking, HPDC parts are preferably produced in large batches. On the one hand, this is due to the cost-effectiveness and, on the other, to the high reproduction accuracy of the parts. However, we have specialised in being able to produce small (1,000 pieces per batch) and very small batches (from 500 pieces per batch) without losing sight of economic efficiency.

Which alloys do we process?

Matthies Druckguss has specialised in the use of three main alloy groups.
These are based on the basic elements aluminium, brass and zinc and comply with the standards for HPDC alloys. We use a total of nine different standard alloys. There are also other special alloys with special mechanical and physical properties. For further information, please contact us at info@druckgiesser.com.

The design is still under development. Will you support us with the realisation?

Of course! As experts in HPDC for many years, we will be happy to help you design your construction to be both design-orientated and optimally suitable for casting. Simply send us your 2D or 3D sketches and we will take care of it.

What do I need to consider when designing and dimensioning the casting?

Quite simply: write to us. We offer various services to help you realise your idea in the best possible way in a HPDC part.

What is needed to receive a quote from you?

We would be delighted if we have been able to help you with our information and you have therefore decided to place an enquiry with us. The process is very simple:
Simply send us an e-mail to info@druckgiesser.com and give us precise details of the quantities, weight, alloy, surface finish and other special features.
We also need a drawing from you as a 2D (e.g. .pdf or .tiff) or ideally as a 3D model in .iges, .step or .stl format.
We will then send you an offer shortly after checking the feasibility.

From offer to order. What happens now?

We are looking forward to it! The next steps are as follows:
You order the HPDC tools (mould) and an initial series of castings from us.
You will then receive the corresponding order confirmations from us with the binding completion and delivery dates. On the specified date, you will receive the initial samples including a short initial sample test report (shortFAIR) from us either by post or forwarding agent. If you have more detailed requirements for testing the initial samples, we can also offer you a FAIR (First Article Inspection Report), for example.
Would you like to take part in the sampling yourself? No problem! Simply make an appointment with us in good time - you are very welcome.

What are the MTZ and ETZ surcharges?

Casting prices consist of a price structure that is dependent on several factors. It consists of the base price, which is fixed over the year, and the surcharges for metal and energy.
MTZ stands for ‘metal inflation surcharge’ and ETZ for ‘energy inflation surcharge’. The base values for this are set and noted in quotations. Later, they are then set in difference to the respective daily prices.This is done using the following formulae:

MTZ= (daily price € - base price €) x burn-off (for aluminium, zinc: 1.25; brass, tombac: 1.35) x net weight
ETZ= (daily price € - base price €) x casting weight (weight of the casting incl. overflows, casting system)

Both are calculated and invoiced on a daily basis and therefore offer optimum transparency for you as a customer.
